Coaching Opportunities

DUTIES OF THE DIRECTOR OF COACHING

Philosophy & Curriculum development and Implementation

  • The DOC is responsible for a club philosophy, supportive of the club’s mission statement that serves as the basis for the manner in which the club is managed. The DOC should also establish program curriculums supportive of the club philosophy.

Coaching

  • The DOC is responsible for fulfilling the following coaching roles.
  1. Coaching 1-2 Travel Teams per season
  2. Overseeing/Directing Travel, Academy, and Challenge Programs
  3. Coaching Summer Camps
  4. Coaching Indoor Programs
  5. Travel assistant coach upon request from team coach

Management of Youth Tournaments

  • The DOC is responsible for serving as the Tournament Director for HCSA’s tournaments; Appalachian Classic (August) and King of the Mountain (May).
  • The DOC is responsible for securing teams for HCSA’s Tournaments and manage the Online Registration System.

Coaching Education

  • The DOC is responsible for coaching education for all programs in the club
  1. 2 training programs each year for academy programs.
  2. Continual evaluation of travel team coaches through observation and feedback

Recruiting for Travel Teams

  • The DOC is responsible for improving the quality of all teams through recruiting activities

Direct and Manage the duties of the Technical Directors

  • The club’s Technical Directors report directly to the DOC and thus the DOC is responsible for the oversight and management of the Technical Directors.

Direct and Manage the Coaching Staff

  • The DOC is responsible for the management of the coaching staff and ensuring all coaching positions are filled; including but not limited to hiring, terminating, training, educating, and evaluating.

Planning and Management of Club Programming

  • The DOC is responsible for seasonal planning, scheduling, staffing, evaluating.

Parent Education

  • The DOC is responsible for overseeing continual parent education including but not limited to; understanding of the game/rules, and club philosophy/curriculums.

Facility Management

  • The DOC is responsible for facility scheduling and overseeing facility maintenance. The DOC is the scheduling coordinator for ASU soccer, WCP&R soccer, and rental groups.

Website/Online Registration Management

  • The DOC is responsible for management of the club’s website and Online Registration System.

College Recruiting Seminars

  • The DOC and the ED are responsible for helping players understand the college recruiting process and will act as the liaison between the player and college coach.

Face of HCSA

  • The DOC is responsible for being the face of HCSA in the community, advocate for the club by giving presentations, conducting outreach programs, and engage with community leaders.  Develop and maintain connections within the community, region, and state.

Skills and Competencies

  1. USSF D License required, C License preferred
  2. USYS National Certificate required or commitment to obtain within 1 year
  3. Management and Organizational Skills
  4. Good Oral and Written Communication Skills
  5. Proficient with computers; MS Office, website management, registration software

Relationships

  • The DOC reports to the Executive Director.




In addition to the Director of Coaching position, we are constantly looking to grow our staff of quality coaches. The USSF F License is available through an online course at the US Soccer Digital Coaching Center.  The course costs $25 and takes approximately 2 hours time.


 Travel Team Coach
  1. Duties
    1. Manage Team Practices
      1. The Travel Team Coach is responsible for the planning and running of practices consistent with HCSA’s Philosophy and Travel Team Curriculum.
    2. Manage Team Games
      1.  The Travel Team Coach is responsible for coaching all games and tournaments.
    3. Manage Team Scheduling
      1. The Travel Team Coach is responsible for coordinating their league schedule
    4. Player Evaluations
      1. The Travel Team Coach is responsible for completing seasonal player evaluations for their players.
  2. Skills and Competencies
    1. USSF F License required, E License preferred
    2.  Positive Role Model
    3. Reliable
    4. Ability to manage players and parents
  3. Relationships
    1. Travel Team Coaches report to the club’s Director of Coaching.
  4. Salary $3,000- $5,000 per year ($1,500- $3,000 per season); coaches also receive reimbursement for mileage driven to away games, per diem for meals for away games, and hotel expenses for away games.
 Academy Coach
  1. Duties
    1. Assist with Team Practices
      1. The Academy Coach is responsible for the assisting with practices for their assigned players in accordance with the Academy Director's instructions.
    2. Manage Team Games
      1.  The Academy Coach is responsible for coaching all games (some travel games for U10 Academy)
    3. Player Evaluations (U10 Academy Only)
      1. The Academy Coach is responsible for completing seasonal player evaluations for their players.
  2. Skills and Competencies
    1. USSF F License required
    2.  Positive Role Model
    3. Reliable
    4. Ability to manage players and parents
  3. Relationships
    1. Academy Coaches report to the respecTechnical Director serving as the respective Academy Director.
  4. Compensation
    1. U8 Academy is paid by the practice/game $15-$20 per; U10 Academy is paid a seasonal salary $750-$1000. U10 coaches also receive travel reimbursement for away games (mileage/per diem/hotel).
